During the preparedness day, volunteers will gain a variety of basic skills necessary for forest conservation and fire prevention. First, they will learn how to effectively establish and maintain firebreaks, which are vital to controlling the spread of wildfires. Second, participants will gain hands-on experience identifying and removing flammable materials from the forest floor, enhancing their understanding of fire hazards. In addition, they will be trained to properly use forestry tools and techniques to manage forests in a sustainable manner. Finally, the day will also provide insights into emergency response strategies, preparing volunteers to act quickly and effectively if fire outbreaks occur, significantly contributing to the safety and resilience of their communities.
For this event, participants should wear comfortable clothing appropriate for outdoor activities and a hat for sun protection. It is essential to bring a water bottle to stay hydrated throughout the day. In addition, attendees are encouraged to be in a good mood and with a positive attitude to help create a cooperative and fun atmosphere during the activities.
Preparedness Day is organized to educate and engage volunteers in fire prevention and forest conservation activities. Applicants will be added to a WhatsApp group for further coordination. Here is a detailed plan for the day: 8:00am - 8:15am: Volunteer gathering. 8:15 AM - 8:30 AM: Transfer to work site - 8:45-8:30 AM: Arrive on site, followed by an explanation and ice-breaking session. 8:45 AM - 9:00 AM: Distribute tools and assign tasks. 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM: Volunteers conduct fire prevention activities. 12:00-12:30 PM: Return to starting point, concluding with an evaluation session to discuss the day’s accomplishments and receive feedback. Both dates (13-14 July) will have the same program.
